Community rules
TrailMates brings strangers together to hike. These rules help everyone set off with confidence.
- 1
16 and over
TrailMates is open from age 16. Under 18, only among friends or by invitation. Your age must be accurate.
- 2
Be honest about your level
Give your real level and read the hike description carefully before asking to join.
- 3
Respect others
No insults, harassment, discrimination or unwanted advances. No means no.
- 4
Keep your commitments
If you can't come any more, leave the hike as early as possible to free up your spot.
- 5
Safety first
The organizer proposes, but everyone is responsible for themselves: gear, weather, fitness. Nobody is a professional guide.
- 6
Ski touring and mountaineering
These outings need real experience and the required gear (transceiver, shovel, probe or rope, harness, crampons). Be honest about your experience, check the avalanche bulletin and accept turning back. Nobody guides: we go as self-reliant practitioners.
- 7
Fair car sharing
Travel costs are shared, with no profit. No paid rides.
- 8
Respect the mountains
Stay on the trails, take your litter home, respect wildlife, plants and park rules.
- 9
On the bike, safety first
Helmet required. Follow the highway code, ride single file on narrow roads and point out obstacles. On a mountain bike, stay on trails open to bikes and give way to walkers.
- 10
Report problems
Someone's behaviour makes you uncomfortable? Use “Report” on their profile. You can also block them.
Breaking these rules can lead to your account being suspended.
